Fringe Garments for the Connoisseur
Picture the scene. You're wandering the back streets of some unpronounceable Spanish village. You've had a hard day, designing new boots for an ever increasing range. You need food, out of the corner of your eye, you spot a fringe jacket in a shop window. You meander across the road, rubbing your eyes in disbelief at a shop full of handmade deerskin jackets. You've got to have one. Then you meet the man who owns the shop, designs and makes these one-off jackets, his name is Jose Luis Sierra. He goes on to explain, in broken English, that they are all handmade and totally different. He then looks at his watch, pointing his finger and tapping the glass, it's two o'clock, siesta time. He takes you down back alleys to a small bar. You buy him lunch and a couple of beers. You chat. Your broken Spanish, his broken English. Much gesticulation. Eventually he agrees to supply these exquisite jackets for you to sell in your shop back in the UK. It's now five o'clock and you return to his shop. You pick 12 jackets and pay for them. Three weeks later, back in Netherton, a box arrives, you can't wait to open it. You cut the tape, pull back the cardboard flaps, and there they are, hangers at the ready, you make a rail available. You take a deep breath and dive in. Minutes later you stand back, giving yourself a 'tap on the back'. Another successful buying mission complete.
Well, that's exactly what happened to Owen back in September 2000, just another day for the 'Main Man'.
Again, we must stress that these jackets are all different, no two are exactly the same.
Please telephone or email for design details, and a personal visit to the store is recommended before purchase.
